First impressions of Almeria

Good morning!
Yesterday Gediminas and I arrived at our Apartment in Almeria. We have found this apartment through Airbnb. Its a website where people can put on their room(s) or houses they want to rent out to other people. This is the Website: www.airbnb.com So I saw this very beautiful apartment at the beach of Almeria and wrote a message to the owner. Gediminas and I went to Almeria somewhere in July to see the apartment in real life, because it was so beautiful on the pictures, so we wanted to know for sure if it was all real and it was! The owner is such a nice guy and his whole family lives in this building. He even picked us up from the airport and drove us to Carrefour that night at 21:00 to do some groceries for the next day. He also said it was better to not make a deal through airbnb because they ask €600,- only for intermediation costs, so that was really nice of him. So I recommend to all the other students who are searching for a place to live and found a nice home on airbnb, to ask the owner of the house if you can make a contract without the help of airbnb.
I'm very looking forward to go to the introduction week next week. It will start on monday and the Erasmus association organized a picknick on Tuesday the will show us the University, Wednesday there will be a Tapas tour and many other things will take place in that week.
The first thing I noticed when I came to Almeria, is the fact that almost nobody speaks English and if they speak English, they don't speak it very well. Sometimes its hard to make yourself understandable, but most of the time it works out and do they get what you mean. The weather is much warmer and nicer than in the Netherlands, so that is at least a really good thing.
There is also a really nice Sportcenter here, it's called Ego and for €25,- a month you can make unlimited use all of the facilities like the swimming pool, the fitness center and you can participate within al the group lessons you want! The website is: http://www.egosportcenter.com
At the moment the weather is very nice and i'm going to enjoy that beautiful weather on the beach, so see you next time with another update about my first experiences with the University etc.
