Hello everyone!
Time for a new story! I have been here for 2 months now and I must say that time is really flying. Maybe it is because I have so much spare time to do a lot of traveling.
I must say that the weather is still very nice here in Almeria even when it is getting a little bit colder though. In the Morning when I go to school by bike, sometimes it is cold but then when I go back in afternoon it is actually really warm sometimes. But then in the evening it is getting colder and you definitely need a jacket.
This month I went to university of course, studied a bit for my Spanish language course and I did a lot of traveling. I went to cabo de gata for some kayaking, did a road trip through the centre of Spain and I went to Valencia and Madrid.
Most of the time, we rent a car because it isn't that expensive and you can do everything and go everywhere you want at your own pace. A great site to rent a cheap car, and where you don't get all the extra hidden ''surprises'' when you go to pick up your car, is www.billigermietwagen.de it is a german site, but you can rent a car everywhere and for a really good/cheap price without all the stupid extra costs'' but here in Spain you have to be at least 21 years old to rent a car and you have to pay extra (most of the time €7/€8 a day) because you are not 25 but then it is still much cheaper that herz of europcar. We rent a car 3 times now through this site and we never have had any problems.
So we went did this mini road trip through ''central'' Spain we went to Ronda, Cordoba and Granada and some really small cities between these bigger cities and it was definitely worth it! I can really recommend to do such a road trip if you like traveling a lot.
A few weeks later, we went to Valencia. Valencia is also a really nice city with a nice harbor where you can eat some delicious paella (you definitely have to eat paella here because Valencia is the hometown of paella) a very good and nice restaurant I can recommend here is restaurant Arribar at the harbor: http://restaurantearribar.com here we ate really good paella and the view and seating is very nice!
We also traveled by train to Madrid. We decided to travel by train to Madrid because it was easier to get to Madrid by train and you don't have to park your car and pay for the parking costs. The journey from Almeria to Madrid by train is about 6 hours of traveling and this is because the train is not going very fast but it is way more comfortable than going there by bus because if you go by bus you have to leave at 04:00 AM and then you will be in Madrid at 10/11AM and the bus is not very comfortable so you don't get a lot of sleep. You can also easily book your train tickets through the site of the train company Renfe: www.renfe.es here you can book tickets to every station in Spain and it is very easy and not that expensive!
Madrid is a very nice city! You can see and do a lot there. We even went to the cinema where they play movies in the original version. (English spoken but with Spanish subtitles) If you really like cheese a lot you definitely have to check out the cheese bar in Madrid: http://www.ponceletcheesebar.es It is a very nice restaurant where you can eat a lot of delicious cheeses for dinner. You can choose from the nice menu but you can also decide to do some fondue or raclette. We did the raclette and it was very delicious. We also bought some cheese to take home later on.
After we came back from Madrid it was time to do some studying and to write some summaries for some subjects so this is it for now and I will be back next month with a new story and new tips!
